The start of the new year can be both an exciting time and also quite deflating. Many of us look to the new year as a new start, we make resolution such as, I want to lose weight or I want to give up smoking also many of us look to the new year as a way to kick start our life.
However for many of us, these resolutions and change are short lived because we try to take on too much or try to make too many changes. Here I will try and give some of my thoughts on how to make lasting changes without the feeling of being overwhelmed.
The first thing to remember is to take things slowly and not to try to do too many things at the same time as this is a sure fire way of being overwhelmed and feeling that you do not have enough time. Try to set small goals to start with, for example, if you are looking to lose weight, set your self the target of a couple of pounds in the first month; walk more, even a few minutes a day to start with and build from there, and cut down on the amount of chocolate and biscuits you eat.
Remember: it is easier to achieve your goals if you approach life in small pieces.
